Adipogenic differentiation of BS cells and BMSCs. Cells cultivated in adipogenic medium showed formation of lipid droplets in BS cells and BMSCs as determined by Oil Red O staining. Cultivation in control medium in contrast did not result in droplet enrichment (a). Scale bar = 100 μm. b Expression of the adipogenic marker genes lipoprotein lipase (LPL) and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma 2 (PPARγ2) was increased in BS cells and BMSCs treated with adipogenic medium (Adi), but was not detectable in cells cultivated with control medium (Co). The housekeeping gene EF1α showed equal expression levels in all groups observed.
