Whole-mount cochlea comparison of implanted human Wharton’s jelly cells. Human Wharton’s jelly cells (hWJCs) were perfused through the oval window of the cochlea. Confocal images of whole-mount cochleae displayed clear identification of 200 cells or more per cochlea slice. In the cochlea slice presented, 230 cells were identified. Cells attached to the basilar membrane (BM), spiral ligament (SLig), stria vasularis (SV), and spiral limbus (SLim) as indicated by white arrows. Cell nuclei were stained with DAPI (blue).
