mTOR inhibition enhances the immunosuppressive properties through soluble factors. a,b Supernatants were collected after 48 h from rapamycin (RAPA)-pretreated mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), followed by diluting 1:1 and adding peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). PBMC proliferation was analyzed by flow cytometry (a, representative data; b, pooled data). c MSCs were pretreated with 100 nM rapamycin followed by treating with 10 ng/ml tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) plus 20 ng/ml interferon gamma (IFN-γ) for 24 h.
