Expression of stem cell markers in NP-derived colony-forming cells. NP-derived colony-forming cells both from the early degenerated discs (D-NPSCs) and healthy discs (H-NPSCs) were positive for CD29, CD44, and CD166, but negative for CD4, CD8 and CD14.
