Three preDSC clones exhibited both decidual and mesenchymal characteristics. All three clones were able to decidualize (i.e., to show morphological changes and secrete PRL) and differentiate into osteoblasts, chondrocytes, and adipocytes. Bar graphs show the percentage of round cells and the secretion of PRL by each of the three clones (mean ± SD of three independent determinations per clone). Mesenchymal differentiation was documented with alizarin staining (osteogenic), oil red O solution (adipogenic), and safranin O (chondrogenic). Scale bar, 50 μm.
