In vivo implantation of hEMSCs enhanced the expression of pro-angiogenic cytokines after MI. The level of mRNA expression for VEGF (a), angiopoietin 1 (ANG1, b), and angiopoietin 2 (ANG2, c) was measured in the infarcted heart tissue of nude rats at 3 days after cell transplantation by real-time qPCR. Individual values were normalized to glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH). Representative Western blot images and quantification of VEGFA, ANG1 and ANG2 (d), Fms-like tyrosine kinase 1 (FLT-1) and TIE2 (e), transforming growth factor β2 and FGF9 (f) protein levels in the infarcted heart tissue of nude rats at 3 days after cell transplantation.
