A proposed mechanistic loop of IL-6 mediated cardiac repair. Injection of WT1-expressing ADSC (eGFP:WT1 ADSC) into the damaged ventricular wall (myocardial infarction) led to an abundant production of interstitial IL-6 which subsequently activated its downstream nuclear target, STAT3, via IL-6/gp130 interaction on cell membrane. Activation of STAT3 in cardiomyocytes commenced a dedifferential process which warranted cardiac proliferation and regeneration of de novo cardiomyocytes for cardiac repair
