α-Syn enhances MSC glycolysis by upregulating PKM and LDH. A Glucose uptake by MSC is not affected by α-syn-treatment. B α-Syn-treated MSCs present an increased accumulation of lactate compared with that by control MSCs. CF α-Syn-treated MSCs exhibit increased mRNA levels of glycolysis enzymes, such as HK1, HK2, PFKFB3, PKM, and LDH, compared to the control MSCs. GI mRNA levels of pentose-phosphate pathway enzymes, such as G6PD, PGD, and TKT, show no significant differences in α-syn-treated MSCs compared with that of control MSCs.
