Histological analysis of wound and epidermal thickness. (A) Angiopoietin-1 gene-modified bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell (Ang1-MSC)-treated wounds showed more stable features in the granular and spinous layers, and the epidermal layer was more mature. Completely developed epidermis with regenerated skin appendages (arrows) is observed at day 21 after Ang1-MSC treatment of the wound. Scale bar = 50 μm. (B) Wounds treated with Ang1-MSCs displayed thinner epidermis compared with wounds treated in the other groups.
