p53 silencing promotes a ploidy change in adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells but not in bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells. Ploidy and p53 expression were evaluated in (A) bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM MSCs) and (B) adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ASCs) following p53 silencing by a specific p53 short hairpin RNA (shRNA) or a nonrelevant shRNA control.
