Cytotoxicity studies were performed by measuring (A) myeloperoxidase activity in the colon and (B) catalase activity in serum. Mice receiving dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) + umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell (UCMSCs) treatment showed a significantly reduced myeloperoxidase activity compared with the DSS + phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) group (**P <0.01).
