Summary of stroke study timelines and behavioural tests. In the first study, a conditioned medium from IL-1α-primed mesenchymal stem cells (αCM) was administered at the time of reperfusion by subcutaneous injection, then mice were recovered for 14 days (a). In the second study, a conditioned medium was administered 24 h post-stroke (b). Mice were then recovered for 30 days to facilitate the assessment of post-stroke anxiety and depressive-like behaviours at late time points. With the exception of open field, novelty-suppressed feeding and elevated zero maze baseline behavioural assessments were conducted before stroke surgery
