Antioxidant effects of hAECs in experimental NASH. Compared with normal mice, FFHS and FFHD mice had significantly lower expression levels of Nox2 (a). Within the NASH diet groups, FFHS mice had significantly lower expression levels of Nox2 (a). Nox4 gene expression demonstrated a trend towards lower levels in hAEC exposed mice but did not reach statistical significance (P = 0.10) (b). Compared with normal mice, FFHS and FFHD mice had significantly greater levels of HO-1 activity (HO-1+ cells) (c). FFHS mice had significantly higher levels of HO-1 activity compared to untreated FF mice.
