Summary of the study. Serum-free conditions promote cell proliferation potential of MSCs in vitro and intrapulmonary engraftment of intravenous delivered MSCs in vivo. SF-MSCs correct cytokine disruptions (e.g., IL-6 production in serum or BALF) caused by BLM administration. Furthermore, SF-MSCs lead to efficiently inhibition of BLM-induced lung inflammation and fibrosis by promoting induction of Tregs into the lung compared with S-MSCs
