Technologies for engineering MSCs or MSC-exos. MSCs or MSC-exos can be modified by genetic engineering, surface modification and tissue engineering. Genetic engineering includes viral and nonviral methods. In addition, gene editing technology can also be used to achieve accurate editing of target genes. Surface modification includes covalent and noncovalent modifications. In addition, MSCs and MSC-exos can be modified with tissue engineering technology in combination with biological scaffold materials. In the treatment of autoimmune diseases, engineered MSCs or MSC-exos can further improve their targeted homing in patients to better play the role of tissue repair and immunomodulation.
