Gene expression of neuronal markers. A Genes coding for factors typically secreted from SCs (NGF, BDNF, and GDNF); B their receptors (NTRK1, NTRK2, NGFR, GFRA1); C and neuronal markers NES, S100B, and GAP43 were investigated. Results are expressed as fold change compared to control group SC-ASCs, indicated by the dotted line. HPL-ASCs expressed NGF more than SC-ASCs. Accordingly, the expression of NTRK2 and NGFR was statistically reduced in HPL-ASCs, as answer to the negative feedback induced by NGF. Moreover, S100B expression was decreased in HPL-ASCs compared to the control group. (*p < 0.05; ***p < 0.001)
