Representative micrographs illustrating α-smooth-muscle actin (SMA) expression in kidney tissues. In comparison with IRI rats receiving cell treatment or nephrectomy, vehicle-treated rats exhibited stronger positive staining for α-SMA in kidney tissue sections, especially at 6 weeks after intervention. In kidney tissue sections from sham-operated rats, α-SMA was expressed mostly in vessels. The original magnification is × 400.
