Human glutathione S-transferase Mu 2 mesenchymal stem cells (hGSTM2-MSCs) were resistant to hydrogen peroxide-induced apoptosis. (A-C) Detection of apoptotic cells by terminal dUTP nick-end labeling (TUNEL) staining on in vitro cultured MSCs treated with 0.5 mM H2O2 for 6 hours: representative images from (A) untransduced MSCs, (B) pCDH-MSCs (vector controls), and (C) hGSTM2-MSCs. (D) Quantitative analysis of apoptotic cells showed that the percentage of apoptotic cells was significantly higher for MSCs and pCDH-MSCs than for hGSTM2-MSCs (P<0.05).
